Sugar Lyn's Bio and Resume Bio
BORN AND RAISED in Scarborough, Ontario as the youngest child of three, Sugar’s unique voice and talents took over the Canadian entertainment industry from all sides; animation, television, film, as well as radio. Her star continues to rise as Sugar embarks on doing it all over again in the entertainment capitol of the world… Hollywood. IT ALL BEGAN for Sugar when she was in high school; after an impromptu audition landed her a role in the school play, where she immediately discovered her love and talent for acting. Sugar emerged from high school anxious to find her place in the entertainment world, and to prove that an opportunity can knock at anytime, while Sugar was working as Manager for a Roots Store, she was discovered at their annual Christmas party by disk jockey Kwame from KISS 92.5, During her radio stint at KISS 92.5, Sugar recorded a parody to Eminem’s the Real Slim Shady called THE REAL SUGABAYBEE. It was not long before the song hit number one at the station, and Sugar was chosen to perform as the opening act for DESTINYS CHILD at KISS 92’s Wham Bam Thank You Jam in 2001. Since then, Sugar has written and recorded 5 children’s songs under the Universal Music label. A year and a half into her radio career, Canada’s number one television network for kids, YTV, asked Sugar to join the team. Hosting/producing/writing for the most popular after school block in the country; The Zone, Sugar delivered improvised comedy with a flare all her own, five days a week. She hosted industry acclaimed interviews with celebrities (BRAD PITT, CHRIS BROWN, ALICIA KEYS, ANTONIO BANDERAS, CUBA GOODING JR, HILLARY DUFF, MO PETE, and the list goes on...) and played a variety of different characters (often created by Sugar herself), while talking to Canadian kids about issues that matter. Sugar’s one of a kind voice has also opened the door to many opportunities in the animation world. Her first audition and role for SAILOR MOON as Mini Moon got the ball rolling, and to this day, she has appeared in more than 30 animated shows and movies, including a starring role as WISH BEAR in the latest Care Bears Movie, Care Bears Big Wish. In the new action adventure series DI GATA DEFENDERS she stars Kara, the youngest and toughest defender. On top of her many other jobs, Sugar was enlisted by Toronto’s most widely read newspaper, THE TORONTO STAR in early 2004, to write a weekly column “Suga Buzz” (as aptly named by Sug) on current affairs for youth. Although it’s hard to imagine Sugar has any spare time, she is most proud of her work with various children’s charities, including Sick Kids Hospital, Dreams Take Flight, United Way and the Special Olympics.
